Rays of Sunshine

20,000 children are suffering terminal or debilitating illnesses in the UK. By granting wishes, Rays of Sunshine gives such children, and their families, some very special memories. BrightHouse was their biggest corporate sponsor in 2008.

Rays of Sunshine was founded in 2003. The aim of the charity is to grant wishes for children with serious and life-limiting illnesses, purchase equipment for those children as well as aids for the hospitals and schools that care for them. Over the last three years they have received support from a number of corporate sponsors including British Airways (keep on same line) and Next. In 2008 BrightHouse became the charity's largest corporate sponsor.

Local stores have been very active raising money for Rays of Sunshine. In addition to in-store collecting, fundraising initiatives have included 'the raffle of UEFA Champions League', 'The Customer Wii Challenge', 'the Cake and Bake sale', the Scotland Store Managers sponsored climb of Ben Lomond and a regional staff 6-a-side (keep on same line) football tournament.

At the BrightHouse annual conference in May there was a cheque presentation for £100,000 to Rays of Sunshine. All money raised for the charity goes towards making wishes coming true for seriously and terminally ill children.

Commenting on the partnership, BrightHouse CEO, Leo McKee said: "We are delighted to support Rays of Sunshine, the impressive fundraising efforts made by colleagues and customers have been exceptional, and we look forward to continuing our successful partnership into 2009 "
